When designing a website, we view and test the draft designs using the different monitor resolutions as well as the varying browsers. Some of your most qualified customers (those that WANT your product or service) are not using the latest and greatest computer equipment. Some advanced techniques will not display on their equipment. If they can't see the offer, they can't take advantage of it.
Some sites are viewed in perfect format using IE, but when viewed on another browser, or another screen resolution- the layout, the way graphics are displayed, and even text alignment can make a great sight appear to have been created by a chimp.
